Vicar Search: The Selection Process
The procedure for appointment of a Parish Priest is described in the Diocese’s Statute 4. In essence, it provides for an appointment to be made by The Bishop in consultation with eight nominators - four each from the Diocese (elected by the Synod) and from the Parish (elected by the Vestry).
Our parish nominators are:
- Deirdre Harris (Vicar’s Warden)
- Di Bunker (People’s Warden)
- David Hoskins (Vestry Member)
- David Scoular (Vestry Member)
The basic responsibility of Diocesan nominators is to look at any effects any appointment may have on the Diocese as a whole.
The basic responsibility of Parish nominators is to find a Priest who will suit the congregation and its habits.
